Dermaplaning involves gently scraping over the skin surface with a sterile surgical-grade blade. The blade is passed lightly over the top layer of the skin at a 45-degree angle, which allows for a relatively comfortable treatment experience. This process works to clear the face of "peach fuzz" (short, soft hairs), dead or damaged skin cells and provides a thorough cleansing of the face’s outermost layer (epidermis). By revealing newer and healthier cells, dermaplaning leaves the skin feeling and looking fresh, radiant and silky-smooth.
Dermaplaning allows for skincare products to penetrate more readily into the deeper layers and is a great add-on treatment prior to microneedling as it allows for topical products to penetrate significantly deeper into the skin layers, achieving the most desirable outcome.
